Andretti Autosport Cooper Tires Winterfest Report

February 07, 2013

Garett Grist, Team DaVinci Foods, No. 7

Winterfest at Sebring International Raceway marked Grist's first USF2000 race with Andretti Autosport. He was unable to qualify for the first race of the event, due to a mechanical issue. However, the crew was able to get the car fixed and he finished 17th, after starting 22nd and running as high as sixth. The starting lineup for the second race was based off of lap times from the day prior. Grist started fourth and finished in the same position. In the third race, he finished third, after starting third and advancing as high as second.

"The last two days at Sebring were really good in the No. 7 DaVinci Foods machine. I had a tough time yesterday, but the team worked hard and we were able to bounce back. I tried to focus on my driving and the setup of the car and improve both of those. The USF2000 car is a lot different from Formula Fords, where I have some previous experience, so I'm working on my driving and how I'll fit with the car. Everyone at Andretti Autosport is doing a great job and everything is coming together."

Austin Cindric, Team Nightrain, No. 77

Cindric completed his first event for Andretti Autosport at Winterfest in his USF2000 machine. He qualified 12th for the first race and finished in that same position. Based off of his lap times in that race, he would have started ninth in Race Two. Unfortunately, he was involved in an accident in the last corner during practice and was unable to start the second and third race due to mechanical problems.

"The last couple days started pretty well. We improved as a team and were able to finish 12th in the first race. I am taking what we learned at Sebring, so that we can apply it to Palm Beach and come out with a better result. It was definitely a different experience compared to what I'm used to. It was great having engineers and being able to go over data. The Andretti Autosport team put in a lot of hard work. I really appreciate all they did to help me."
