Andretti Autosport Sebring Race Report

March 15, 2013

Garett Grist, No. 7 DaVinci Foods

Garett qualified in ninth and finished second for Round One at Sebring. During Round Two, Garett came away with laps led and a fifth-place finish.

"Yesterday was amazing and the afternoon was a complete turnaround from the morning. Qualifying was cut down due to the red flags so we really didn't get momentum going, but in the race we slowly picked them off one by one. My goal was to get through the first lap, and from there on use the speed of the car and figure things out to get past people; that's what we did in the end.Today went well. We had a good starting spot in third, we made our way to become the leader on Lap 2 and were second after Lap 1. I made the pass for first then the yellow came out. I lost some ground after the yellow flag, but the last two laps the car came in really well and really fast. St. Pete will be my first time on a street course so that should be an interesting learning experience. I'm already looking forward to getting back in the car!"

Austin Cindric, No. 77 Nightrain

Austin, an eighth grader, is the only 14-year-old competing in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Powered by Mazda Championship in 2013.

"Friday was okay. We had some gearbox troubles (during Round One) which set us back a bit, and I started 19th and ended up 25th. I wasn't concerned with the gearbox issues as I know we are constantly improving throughout the weekend and these little bumps in the road are all a part of that. We ran our fastest lap of the day in our race so given the circumstances, everything has gone pretty well so far. Today (Round Two) was a little rough compared to some of my other races, but we'll bounce back. We had some issues that did not allow us to finish the race, but we're looking forward to improving in St. Pete and getting some good finishes. The positive thing about today is that we made some progress on the start by gaining four positions even though we only had one lap, so we'll bring everything we've learned this weekend to St. Petersburg."
