Robinson Motor Sports, Inc. has signed two additional drivers to compete in the 2012 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. The drivers will compete in the National Class of the Mazda Road to Indy Series in Formula Enterprises Van Diemens with Mazda power.
Joel Janco, who is a long-time racer and winner of several regional championships in many types of cars, has signed on with Robinson Motor Sports to do the full 2012 USF2000 series.
“I’m really excited to do the Pro series with Robinson Motor Sports,” Janco enthusiastically said. “I’ve worked with Robinson Motor Sports for the past year with excellent results, which included many race wins especially with the help of Mark Eaton on the data and video. Mick (Robinson) runs a great team and it’s a pleasure to work with all the team members,” he continued.
Joining Joel Janco is Robinson Motor Sports team manager and crew chief Mark Eaton, who is a two-time SCCA National Champion in the Formula Enterprises cars.
“Mick provided me the chance to race in the first two USF2000 races but several sponsorship deals have come together to make the full season a possibility," said Eaton. "I’m expecting to do the entire series which I hope will allow me to add to my two national championships in the Formula Enterprises cars."
One of the projects that the Janco and Eaton Robinson Motor Sports Van Diemen entries will bring attention to is the damage that the Lionfish is doing to the local fish habitats and population. This aggressive fish has been introduced to the local areas with no known natural predators.
“Our Sebring and St. Petersburg line up of drivers is very strong,” Robinson stated. “We will have three very determined and experienced drivers at Sebring consisting of Eric Filgueiras, Paul Alspach and Mark Eaton. Joel has a business commitment that might not have him in a car for Sebring, but he will be at St. Pete with Mark and Eric."
