ORLANDO, Fla. - Up-and-coming American open-wheel racer Spencer Pigot is excited to announce a new partnership with Doug Mockett & Company, a Torrance, Calif.-based industry leader in the production of architectural hardware for fine furniture, as he embarks on a bid to win this year's Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda.

Pigot, 18, who was born in Pasadena, Calif., and now lives in Orlando, Fla., finished second in last year's USF2000 championship as a rookie and is a two-time winner of the prestigious Team USA Scholarship, which is also supported by Doug Mockett & Company. Pigot began his 2012 season in style last month by dominating the Cooper Tires Winterfest Championship mini-series. He won five of the six races at Sebring International Raceway and Palm Beach International Raceway, and added one second-place finish to mark a stellar debut with the 2011 championship-winning team, Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing.

"Doug Mockett has been a longtime supporter of the Team USA Scholarship which I have been fortunate enough to be a part of in 2010 and 2011," said Pigot. "I feel honored that Doug has agreed to support me in my efforts to win the Cooper Tires USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda.  Doug has helped a lot of successful drivers in the past including Elton Julian, J.R. Hildebrand, Paul Edwards and Conor Daly so it's a privilege for me to be part of that group."

Doug Mockett has held a life-long passion for auto racing. He bought his first F1 race car, a Penske, in 1994 and has been competing around the world in Historic F1, Formula Junior and other classes since 1987. He finished second in last year's Carrera Panamericana road race, an event he won in 2002, in his thunderous 1954 Oldsmobile Super 88. Mockett has supported a number of talented young American drivers over the past 18 years and has been a primary supporter of the Team USA Scholarship for almost a decade.

"Spencer is one of the finest young drivers of the decade and has a tremendous future ahead. It is a pleasure to be associated with such a talent," said Mockett.

In addition to welcoming Doug Mockett & Company to his portfolio of partners, Pigot also would like to thank Team Pelfrey, E-merging Technologies, Paraythyroid.com, California Scents, Mazda and Cooper Tires as well as his team, Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing, for making it possible for him to compete this season. His quest for the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda will begin with a pair of 30-minute races in support of the 60th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida at Sebring International Raceway, Fla., on March 15-16.
