Good grades and conduct have their rewards in schools all around the country, but at Charles W. Fairbanks Elementary School in Indianapolis, the reward is a little different.

A trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was the order of the day for 25 sixth graders who qualified for the trip.  The students got to see the inner workings of a USF2000 car courtesy of John Cummiskey Racing.

After a visit to the paddock, the students were able to watch the various series on the Mazda Road to Indy practice during Thursday’s sessions and had a fantastic time visiting the Speedway.

Darrance Jennings and Alex Alejos were among the students who visited and were glad they were able to go.

”It was so cool getting to walk up and look at the cars and go through the trailers. I am glad they let us do something most people don't get to,” Jennings said.

"It was fun standing in the tent looking at the engines in the car. I also liked getting to watch the cars on the track after,” Alejos added.

Of course, the students weren’t the only ones having fun.  The teachers were also having a great time, and among their number, count Vincent Hartman.

"I was impressed with how welcoming John was, letting the kids get so close and take time to teach them about everything. I am officially in love with [USF2000]!”
