Dawsonville, GA – VRD Racing is pleased to announce that Colin Aitken will move up to the USF2000 Championship for the 2026 season. The Florida native joins the series after a standout partial season in USF Juniors with the team during the latter half of 2025.
Aitken's racing career began in karting, where he competed in L206 Senior classes and participated in the prestigious SKUSA SuperNationals in both 2022 and 2023. He gained additional car racing experience through the Skip Barber Formula Race Series in 2023 before transitioning to USF Juniors.
Colin made his USF Juniors debut in July 2025 and immediately made an impact, securing a seventh-place finish in Race 3, the best-ever result for a VRD driver in their opening weekend. He concluded his USF Juniors campaign at Portland International Raceway in August, demonstrating consistent improvement throughout the event.
The step from USF Juniors to USF2000 represents a significant progression on the ladder, bringing increased speeds, more advanced aerodynamics and a higher level of competition. Aitken has been preparing for the challenge through extensive offseason testing with VRD Racing at tracks across the country.
"I'm really excited to be moving up from USF Juniors to USF2000. It's a big step, and I feel ready for the challenge," said Aitken. "All the offseason testing with Dan and Jacob has been incredible; I've learned a lot and gained valuable experience. I can't wait to get on track and show people the champion I want to become."
VRD Racing's Dan Mitchell expressed confidence in Aitken's readiness for USF2000: "Colin showed tremendous growth during his partial season with us in USF Juniors, particularly at Portland, where he improved with every session. His work ethic throughout the offseason has been exceptional—he's put in the hours both on and off the track to prepare for this step. We're excited to support him as he takes on the USF2000 Championship, and we believe he has the talent and determination to make an impact in 2026."
The 2026 USF2000 season will see Aitken competing on iconic North American circuits as part of the Road to Indy program, beginning with Rounds One and Two at the St. Petersburg GP February 27th-March 1st.
