Lexington, Ohio -  Danilo Estrela was looking forward to running the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this past weekend. That is until the weekend actually began. The event started with a practice session where Estrela would post his fast time of 1:22.260. Estrela knew he could do better since he posted a 1:22.231 during a test back in May at Mid-Ohio. Qualifying was next on the schedule where Estrela would place fourth with a 1:21.134.

Race conditions were unfortunate at Mid-Ohio for Race 1. During the night storms swept through the area leaving the track very damp and slippery. Most of the race happened under yellow flag conditions but the officials did release two green flag laps. During the final laps of the race Estrela would spin and, unfortunately, take out another competitor in the process leaving him to finish in 23rd position. After the race officials spent time looking at video replays of events that occurred on track. Estrela would be penalized loss of race points and put on probation through the Houston Grand Prix.

Race 2 was not any better for the young Brazilian. During the race the wing on his #11 Belardi Auto Racing (D&S Marketing) car came loose forcing him to pit. Once back out on track, a few laps later a problem developed sending Estrela back to the pits unable to finish the race. Race number 3 occurred on a new day but to no new good luck. Just after the green flag was waived an incident took place that took out eleven cars, Estrela being one. He is currently in fourth position in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda point standings.

The next event on the schedule will be held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on September 6-8, 2013.
