JHDD driver adds another top-five result, his sixth of the season

LOVELAND, Ohio – It was another race weekend for Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) competitor Evagoras Papasavaas, this time at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Entering the USF2000 Presented by Continental Tire weekend with five consecutive podium results, Papasavvas left Indy second in the championship standings with his eyes now on the first and only oval event of 2024.

“It was a tough weekend for us,” explained Evagoras. “We gained some valuable points in race one, finishing fourth, breaking the podium streak, but race two resulted in a DNF which was hit in the championship points chase. However, it is still a long season, and I look forward to pushing hard to the end and seeing if I can claw my way back toward the lead.”

Entering the weekend second in the championship battle, Papasavvas was running on a string of five straight podium results coming into Indy, including two at the opening round in St. Petersburg, Florida, and three from the most recent race at NOLA Motorsports Park.

Qualifying sixth for race one, Papasavvas finished just shy of the podium in fourth, gaining some valuable championship points for his efforts. Back on the track for race two, Evagoras had contact and was forced to retire early, classified 19th, but left Indy still second in the points chase.

Papasavvas added, “I am putting this weekend behind me immediately, with my full focus on the next one.”

While the NTT INDYCAR SERIES shifts its focus to the Indianapolis 500, Evagoras Papasavvas will aim to win on the oval at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park May 22-24.
