Latorre ready to add to podium total during Houston doubleheader

PALMETTO, FLA. – JAY Motorsports and rookie Florian Latorre complete their quest for Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda top honors this weekend (October 5-6), when the series-finale doubleheader is contested in Houston, Texas. The Florida-based squad and its French rookie star enter Rounds 13 and 14 focused on adding to a strong 2013 resume that has featured two trips to the post-race podium.

The conclusion of the USF2000 Championship is sure to be an exciting affair, with the 1.7-mile concrete-lined track around Reliant Park in Houston hosting the Mazda Road to Indy drivers and teams for a first time. While the season-finale will present multiple challenges and obstacles, JAY Motorsports is excited to roll on-course. The up-and-coming squad and its highly-regarded rookie racer have repeatedly shown the ability to get up to speed and challenge for top honors in unfamiliar surroundings.

JAY Motorsports enters Round 13 and 14 ready to build on what has been a strong second half of the season, and an impressive outing last time the series raced on a street circuit. Since the lone oval race back in May, Latorre's No. 91 13th Avenue/MASM-Cogny/Accent du Sud Ouest/JAY Motorsports racer has been one of the cars to keep an eye on. Among the lead pack event after event, the Frenchman has only finished outside the top-10 once in seven races, finishing among the top-five three times. Highlighting this run of form was a pair of podium finishes on the similar street circuit in downtown Toronto.

Given this previous success, and the fact all the drivers and teams enter the season-finale on equal footing, having never raced in Houston, the stage is set for JAY Motorsports to once again challenge for top honors.

“I am very excited to be in Houston to try to win a first victory, and also to keep my place in the top-five of the championship, which was my goal for this year," stated Latorre. "JAY Motorsports has done an amazing job all year, and I want to do everything to give them another good result. With our two podiums in Toronto, another street circuit, we have high hopes for this last event."

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda season-finale in Houston, Texas, commences on Friday (October 4) with the lone practice and qualifying sessions. Round 13 is slated to get underway at 9:55 am local time on Saturday (October 5), with the season-ending Round 14 going on Sunday (October 6) at 9:45 am local time. Live timing and scoring, and trackside audio will be available at www.f2000.com/Multimedia/Live.aspx.
