Rookie star Latorre ready to build on recent double podium effort

PALMETTO, FLA. – JAY Motorsports is back in action this coming weekend (August 3-4) at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course excited to build on its recent double podium effort in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda series. With French rookie star Florian Latorre behind the wheel, the Florida-based squad enters Rounds Eight, Nine and Ten as team on the move, thanks to a runner-up finish and third place result in the most recent races 'North of the Border'.

One of the goals for JAY Motorsports to start the USF2000 Championship season was to get stronger every time it went racing. Continually working with skilled rookie Latorre, the two-time SCCA National Champion in the Formula Enterprises class has done just that. As the 14-race title enters the lone tripleheader on the calendar, both JAY Motorsports and Latorre are regarded as contenders for top honors, as indicated by two trips to the post-race podium celebrations during Rounds Six and Seven on the streets of Toronto, Ont.

The renowned 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, however, will present a new set of challenges for the No. 91 13th Avenue/MASM-Cogny/Accent du Sud Ouest/JAY Motorsports pilot. That being said, the former French Formula 4 National Auto Sport Academy Championship Rookie of the Year travels to the technical track with valuable data and track experience via official series testing back in early May. Given Latorre was among the top-10 in for all but two of the six test sessions, and the flowing nature of the track suits his European racing background, the stage is set for JAY Motorsports to continue its run of form in Ohio.

"After a very good weekend in Toronto, I am very excited for the Mid-Ohio race weekend," commented the 16 year-old Latorre. "The team and I have worked very hard to prepare for Mid-Ohio, and I hope to continue our success from Toronto. My family will also be there watching me race for the first time this season, so I am also very excited about that."

JAY Motorsports' Latorre will first take to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Thursday (August 1) via two test sessions. The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda action officially gets underway one day later with the lone practice run and qualifying session. Race one of the tripleheader is slated to get the green flag on Saturday (August 3) at 8:35 am local time, followed by Round Nine at 3:25 pm local time. The final race of the IZOD IndyCar Series triple bill takes place on Sunday (August 4) at 9:10 am local time. Live timing and scoring will be available at www.f2000.com/Multimedia/Live.aspx Latorre currently sits fourth in the championship standings, second in the rookie points, while JAY Motorsports is eighth in the team fight.
