CARMEL, Ind. – It is May and time to get back out on track for the drivers at Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD). This weekend, five drivers will head to the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway where they will take on the IMS road course. The Indianapolis Grand Prix Circuit is a 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course located in Speedway, Indiana.

All five USF Pro Championships Presented by Cooper Tires JHDD drivers will hit the circuit in their respective series during the weekend and are eager to get back on track after the break that started back in March. Taking the break as an opportunity to learn and review everything from Sebring has given JHDD renewed focus and energy as they head into the first of two hometown events this month.

“After having a successful weekend in Sebring for our USF2000 drivers, we are aiming to repeat and improve heading to IMS this weekend,” expressed Jay Howard. “We have had some good results to date in 2023, but our goal is to win every time we get on track.”

The USF2000 drivers will compete in rounds five, six, and seven during this event while the USF Pro 2000 competitors will take on only rounds five and six.

Howard added, “It will be a lot of time spent on the track each day with the drivers competing in two series, but it will also give us more data to reference at the end of the day. We think that having five drivers in two different series may be intimidating to some, but we use it to our advantage by cross-referencing and having the ability to speak to drivers who all experience the track differently, and during different times, during the same event weekend.”

This event has a different layout than most race weekends. Instead of taking place Friday to Sunday, the GMR Grand Prix is a Thursday to Saturday event. Thursday has both tests one and two in addition to the official practice session for the weekend. Meanwhile, Friday hosts the qualifying session and race one while races two and three will roll off the grid Saturday, just prior to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
