ELKHART LAKE, Wis. – ArmsUp Motorsports, fresh off winning the 2011 SCCA Formula Continental National Championship, has signed Luigi Biangardi to lead their Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda effort for the 2012 Season.  Biangardi, a 15 year-old, will pilot the ArmsUp Motorsports prepared Gulfstream Properties, backed No. 15 car in his quest to claim the 2012 USF2000 National Championship.

2012 will mark Biangardi's first full season in the USF2000 Championship after gaining experience with a limited schedule in 2011.  The Chicago teenager was quick to make an impression on the series regulars by scoring a season best fourth-place result at the Baltimore Grand Prix.  Biangardi will look to build on that experience to contend for race wins from the start of the season.  Before entering the Mazda Road to Indy Biangardi competed in the Skip Barber race series scoring multiple regional series wins and claiming a fourth place finish at Road America in his lone Skip Barber National Championship event.

"We are really excited to have a driver of Luigi's caliber join us for the USF2000 Championship season," stated ArmsUp Motorsports owner Gregg Borland.  "We have watched Luigi come up through Skip Barber and during his races last year in the USF2000 series.  His progress has been great and I think that we can compete for race wins and the championship with Luigi in one of our cars.  It should be a very fun, competitive season."

“ArmsUp Motorsports is a very prestigious team with titles in various classes," Biangardi commented.  "I hope that with my previous experience driving the USF2000 car and the team’s experience engineering the SCCA version we can combine our skills to make their first run at the 2012 Cooper Tires Presents USF2000 Powered By Mazda a successful one.  Ultimately we are looking for an overall championship win.  I believe that with our combined efforts we can take the ArmsUp Motorsports’ Gulfstream Properties/ car to a championship-winning season.  I am excited to participate in the full racing season this year, since I am now 15, and be able to have the opportunity, thanks to Gulfstream Properties,, and ArmsUp Motorsports, to make a competitive run at the 2012 title.”

ArmsUp Motorsports will make their first full scale USF2000 effort in 2012 even though team is no stranger to pro racing or the podium.  Over the past seven seasons the Wisconsin based team has scored podium finishes in the Toyota Atlantic Championship, Cooper Tires F2000 Championship, F2000 Championship Series and the 2011 USF2000 Winterfest.

ArmsUp Motorsports and Biangardi will begin their testing program at the end of January as the team prepares for the season opener during the famed 12 Hours of Sebring March 13-16.  ArmsUp Motorsports is currently talking to several different drivers to fill out their driver lineup for the 2012 season.  Interested parties should contact Gregg Borland ( for more information.
