Rookie driver ready for the Streets of Toronto

– With two event weekends at permanent race courses under his belt, Ohio resident and Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) driver Evagoras Papasavvas is set for his first career temporary circuit event. Traveling north of the border to Toronto, Canada, Evagoras will pilot his #6 JHDD entry on the 1.786-mile, 11-turn Streets of Toronto for rounds 14 and 15 of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship.
After a tough outing at Road America, Evagoras rebounded at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to complete full race distances and gain some much needed experience for the future. With his eyes set on the 2023 championship, 2022 was always to be used as a learning year and this coming weekend, he will try and learn some more.
“This will be my first temporary street circuit in a car,” explained Evagoras. “I am excited to get on track and have been trying to learn as much as possible from videos and the simulator. I know the track is bumpy and technical, but I hope that I will be able to come to grips with it early and have a great weekend of competition.”
With only one practice session on Friday morning, it will be straight into qualifying Friday afternoon for Saturday’s round 14. Saturday morning will feature the second qualifying session of the weekend for round 15 on Sunday in what is sure to be an action-packed weekend.
Dubbed the Cooper Tires Grand Prix of Toronto, Evagoras is hoping that the barrier-lined circuit will yield career best results in the USF2000’s only international event of the season.
Evagoras continued, “Toronto has been off the schedule for a few years due to Covid, so it is almost a clean slate for all the drivers. I think this is a huge benefit for a new driver like me, and I hope to take advantage of that.”
