Canada's Thompson takes the win in Toronto and strengthens the championship lead

The battle for another Mazda scholarship to move from USF2000 to Pro Mazda in 2017 couldn’t be more finely poised with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing teammates Parker Thompson, from Red Deer, Alb., Canada, and Anthony Martin, from Perth, Australia, currently tied for the points lead with seven races remaining.

Tim de Silva has become the second driver to secure an entry to the inaugural Mazda Road to Indy USF2000 $200K Scholarship Shootout which will be held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, near Monterey, Calif., on December 6-7.

Two-time Mazda Road to Indy Champion Matt Brabham has given the new-for-2017 Tatuus USF-17 its maiden oval test at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

The road course portion of the rigorous Tatuus USF-17 prototype development program wrapped up yesterday at Road America with accolades for the state-of-the-art next-generation chassis that will form the backbone for the first two steps on the Mazda Road to Indy ladder system – the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda and the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires – beginning in 2017.
